Mortgage case help

Stuck on a mortgage case? Ask advisers who have placed one.

Criteria change all the time. Sourcing tells you who might lend, but not who will. CaseHelp lets you ask other advisers what worked for them, without giving your name.

The cases that slow you down

Most residential cases go through with no trouble. The ones that eat your day are the odd ones. A client with one year of accounts. A contractor paid through an umbrella company. A missed payment from three years ago. A flat above a shop. A new build with a high deposit from a family gift.

You can ring round BDMs and wait for call backs. Or you can post the case on CaseHelp and get replies from advisers who placed one like it last month.

What advisers ask about

  • Self-employed and contractor income, including one year of accounts and retained profit
  • Adverse credit, such as defaults, CCJs, missed payments and debt plans
  • Unusual property, such as flats above shops, non-standard build, short leases and ex-local authority
  • Large loans, high income multiples and joint borrower sole proprietor
  • Foreign nationals, visa holders and income paid in other currencies
  • Older borrowers and lending into retirement

How it works

Write a short title and the facts of the case. Pick Mortgage as the product type. The app checks for client details, such as names and postcodes, before the case goes live. It also shows you solved cases like yours, so you may have your answer before you post.

Other advisers reply with the lenders and tips that worked for them. Upvotes push the best replies to the top. When you have your answer, pick the best reply and mark the case as solved.

Your name stays hidden

Every user is checked against the FCA register. But other users only ever see a random handle, such as Quiet Falcon. No one sees your name, firm or email. So you can ask the question you would not ask on a public forum.

Replies can link to lender intermediary pages and criteria, so you can check the detail for yourself.
